　アメリカ合衆国ミシガン州のほぼ中央に位置し，ミシガン州の州都であり，政治・文化の中核をなしています。
　ランシング市は１８４９年開拓者の一人ニューヨーク出身ランシング氏の名前から命名されました。
　両市民が文化，教育，産業，経済等各分野において交流することで、お互いの異文化に対する理解を深め国際化を意識した人材育成を目的に，１９９６年友好都市提携を締結いたしました。
　以後，お互いの大学生を短期留学生として相互派遣し，交流を行っていました。

Lansing is located near the center of Michigan State, and it plays a key role in politics and culture as the state capital. In 1849 Lansing was named after Mr. Lansing, one of the explorers from New York. The friendship affiliation was established, so citizens of both nations may understand a different culture and develop international contacts in several fields such as culture, education, and economics. Since the affiliation was established, exchange activities have taken place, in which college students are sent to their respective friendship cities.
